Three Ships from the German Navy are expected to visit the Waterfront .
- Type-123 frigate FGS Brandenburg (F 215)
- Type 702 combat task group supply vessel FGS Frankfurt-am-Main (A 1412)
- Type-122 frigate FGS Niedersachsen (F 208)
The frigate BRANDENBURG is one of three naval vessels beside frigate Niedersachsen and combat support ship FRANKFURT AM MAIN to call on port. Last year the BRANDENBURG played an active role in ensuring the safety of a German container ship after it was released from captivity of Somali pirates.
The German Navy vesels will also participate in the annual Good Hope exercises with the South African armed forces. The exercise, which also involves the air forces of the two countries, will include a series of missile firings. The German Navy contingent also includes a fourth vessel , Type-760 supply ship FGS Westerwald (A 1435).

Open Day:he German ships will be open for viewing by the public on Sat + Sun (27 – 28 Feb) from 10:00 to 17:00. No entrance fee. Please note that no prams, shopping bags or backpacks will be allowed on board.
SA Navy: Two ships from the SA Navy (Amatola – 114 crew) and (Spioenkop – 114 crew) will also be berthed at Quay 6 from 26 Feb to 1 Mar. No confirmation has been received whether they will be open to the public.
